Fileliq vs Pdfmira: watch the job, or watch the plate
Pdfmira is a magazine that converts. Fileliq is a queue that happens to raster. If you care about a cover preview, go look at plates. If you care about the next ten files, keep the dark UI.
Two hungers
Fileliq: get off the page. pdf-to-jpg, image-compress, image-resize — slugs, queue, download. Pdfmira: stay on the page. Large previews, studio copy, Italian path names even when the edition is English. Creatives and students. Fine. Not a trading floor.
If your ‘image job’ is 40 receipts to JPG, Fileliq. If your ‘image job’ is a lookbook page, Pdfmira. Do not confuse a raster worker with a magazine.
Same controller. You are not choosing a vendor war. You are choosing whether the next ten minutes are for looking or for clearing. Fileliq exists so clearing is cheap. The magazine exists so looking is allowed. Mixing them produces a slow console or a harsh studio. Pick one nervous system and stay there for the session.
UX
We show a table. They show a spread. Command palette versus index overlay. Status bar versus colophon. Pick a nervous system. Ours ticks. Theirs breathes.
Convert is always the bench. No cover story before the dropzone. That is the feature.
Batch
Pdfmira is not a job OS. Fileliq is. Shortcuts live on help. If you only ever export one spread, the magazine is kinder. If you export a directory, kindness is a queue that does not reset your brain.
A cover preview is a round-trip: load, look, maybe export again. That loop is the product — for a student, for a designer. For a folder of scans it is friction. Fileliq keeps the preview functional and the list dominant. You compare bytes on compress because the queue shows them. You do not wait for a plate to feel finished.
Privacy
Short retention both sides. Neither is Cifradocs. Cookie banners exist. We do not wrap deletion in an issue number. They might. Irrelevant to the bytes.
If the file is a receipt, you do not need a colophon. If the file is a cover scan you will print, you might. Fileliq will not become prettier to win that argument. Pdfmira will not grow a job dock to win this one. Honest split.
Power versus visual
Fileliq = power user. Pdfmira = images + PDF, editorial. png-to-webp here is a row. There it is a story. Use the row when you already know the destination codec.
Office / AI
PDF→Office is still lossy when the UI is pretty. pdf-to-docx will not preserve a magazine grid. AI is coming soon, not live. No model will ‘art direct’ your PDF today.
Stay dark
Stay if the preview is a thumbnail and the list is the product. Leave if you needed a studio. Controller in the footer. Enqueue.
Designers linger on plates. Operators linger on rows. If you linger on a plate while a directory waits, you are in the wrong issue. If you skip looking at a cover because the queue felt more serious, you are in the wrong console. Fileliq will not grow a magazine spread to soothe a thesis. Pdfmira will not grow `⌘K` to soothe a clerk. pdf-to-jpg is a slug here. There it is a story. Same bytes. Different cost of attention.
When the export is done, download and delete. Neither room is a DAM. The queue emptying is the success metric on Fileliq. A good plate is the success metric on Pdfmira. Do not mix metrics in a weekly report. You will punish the wrong product and the wrong person.
Raster is a job. A plate is a layout.
| Axis | Fileliq | Pdfmira |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | Operators. Repeat raster and PDF jobs. | Creatives and students. Cover-size previews. |
| UX | Dark queue, palette, status. | Magazine masthead, studio bench, large plates. |
| Batch / queue | Yes. First-class. | Studio rhythm, not a power-user queue. |
| Privacy / retention | Short. Legal URLs. | Short. Colophon voice. Not a gazette. |
| Position | Speed / batch / shortcuts. | Images + PDF, editorial. |
| PDF → Office | Lossy. | Lossy, even with prettier chrome. |
